The short version: we collect very little. Analytics here are cookieless and anonymous, we only hold your email if you choose to subscribe, and we never sell your data. This page sets out the detail and how to reach us.

Who runs this site
Voxrater is an independent publisher and the controller of the little data described here. For anything to do with your data, or to use any of the rights below, email [email protected] and a real person will answer.
What we collect, and why
- Visitor analytics, with no cookies. We use Plausible to count visits, pages and rough referrers in aggregate. It sets no cookies, builds no profile of you, and does not follow you across other sites. We cannot identify you from it. It tells us only which pages are useful.
- Your email, only if you subscribe. If you sign up to the newsletter we store your email address with Beehiiv so we can send it. That is the only reason we hold it, and you can leave at any time with the unsubscribe link in every issue.
- Anonymous affiliate-click counts. When you click a "Visit" link to a platform, we record an anonymous event (which platform, which page the click came from). It sets no cookie and carries no personal data; it just tells us which recommendations people find useful.
- Standard server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes ordinary request information such as your IP address for a short time to serve pages and to block abuse. We do not use these logs to identify or track individuals.
Cookies
We set no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. The only thing the site stores on your device is your light or dark theme preference, kept in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us. The full detail is on the cookies page.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site, and they only process what they need to do their job:

Where your data is handled
The site and its providers are based in the UK, the EU and the US, so some data is handled outside your own country under the standard legal safeguards each provider uses. The directory is operated from the UK; this section will be updated if that ever changes where any data is held.
How long we keep it
We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed. Analytics are aggregate and not tied to you. Server logs are short-lived and kept only as long as our host needs them for security and delivery.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you can, at any time:
- ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong
- ask us to delete it
- object to a particular use, or ask us to restrict it
- complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we have got it wrong

Children
This is a business tool aimed at adults choosing software. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top. For a material change, we will say so in the newsletter rather than change things quietly.
